How to Make Lotus Gate 2D Wall Art

Lotus Gate City Palace Jaipur

In the vibrant Pink City of Jaipur, there’s a special place called the City Palace. It’s full of history and beauty. Among its many cool things, there’s a gate called the Lotus Gate. It’s famous for its pretty design.

I wanted to do something special with a picture of the Lotus Gate. So, I decided to mix things up a bit! I used a cool technique called Lippan Art and combined it with a regular photo to make something new.

Here’s what I used to make it happen:

  1. Picture of Lotus Gate: This was the main photo I worked with. Download Photo Soft copy , This is the best front image I got on internet also had to do some editing work on it using corel
  2. Cardboard: I needed something sturdy to stick the photo on, so I used a file card. Any cardboard can be used it is just for the firmness
  3. Glue: I have used different types of glue to stick. Types of Glue
    • Glue Stick : For Sticking the photo to file card. You might ask why we cant use any other glue ? Reason : Other glue like school glue have more liquid content and that would soak in the photo and file and make it soggy also change the shape of photo and cardboard
    • Fevibond (Rubber based synthetic glue): This is best glue for cardboard crafts and projects, as the are rubber based glue you get a perfect work time after applying the glue. i used it for joining the side strips to make frames
    • Superglue (Feviquick / Flexkwik) : This is optional but I love using this becuase this saves my time and also makes the cardboards firm like a hard plastic. Just drop 2 3 drops on the edges and it dries very quick. (Avoid this if making with kids and also be very careful while using superglue as it is very quick on drying and penitrates very fast. Pro Tip : Keep your mobile away from this glue while working, spill of single drop on the display would seep in and damage the display
    • Fevicol : I apply fevicol on the borders which strenthens the joints which seals the whole project from back
  4. Mirrors: I have used different mirror shapes. Size small to big
  5. lippan mirrors
  6. Outliner (Green, Black): These were used to outline the design and make a embossing effect.3d outliner
  7. Sequins: Used golden metallic detials on the doors sequins

Layering Method

I have cut every layer in the frame

Side Tripes for Layering

No specific breath measurement i have used for the side stripes for layering,

just one rules i use is inner layer is the smaller and the out stripe is bigger, just go on decreasing the side as you go towards the door. You see in the Photo above

The final result was a beautiful piece of art that you can hang on your wall. It celebrates the beauty of Jaipur’s Lotus Gate in a new and exciting way.

This project isn’t just about making something pretty. It’s about bringing together old traditions and new ideas. It shows that you can take something classic, like a photo of a famous gate, and turn it into something fresh and modern.

So, if you’re looking to add a touch of Jaipur’s charm to your home, why not try making your own Lotus Gate art? It’s a fun and creative way to celebrate the beauty of this incredible city!
